Hi!

I am neurodiversity-affirming trauma therapist with a passion for supporting children, teens, and adults who have struggled to be understood by others in the past. Some of my clients are recovering from traumatic life events or traumatic relationships or may be navigating bewildering physical and emotional symptoms in the aftermath of trauma such as movement or sensory disturbances, feeling frozen or blank, experiencing troubling internal voices or parts intrusions, or feeling overwhelming emotions.

My specialized training includes advanced training in EMDR and I blend parts work (IFS and ego state work) with EMDR, play therapy, and trauma-focused CBT as needed to best meet my clients’ needs.

If you’ve ever felt othered by a social or family system or by professionals, I want to support you! Trauma can heal as we have new experiences in safe-enough relationships.

As a kid, I was quick to point out when things weren’t fair. I still hate being told to “get over” unjust and painful things, as if they and the people they happen to don’t matter. At the same time, a human lifetime is so short; the future feels too precious to waste on old wounds. When past and future are at odds, which one do you choose? Ideally we can do both - heal from the past and build a supportive and joyful future.

As I former (or forever!) High school and college musical theater kid, I love to explore roles and relationships with deep empathy and enthusiast play - there is even some joy in being seen as a bit ridiculous. I believe in making therapy work for all kids and adults with creativity and collaboration. There is no wrong way to be or to do the work of therapy! My clients appreciate that I’m a perpetual student, always learning more to inform our work, and that I share the why behind the activities I propose.

I take a needs-based approach to supporting my therapy clients and parents, looking behind and beyond symptoms to the lived experiences, nervous system needs, and family and social systems. I seek collaborative solutions which take everyone’s needs into account — when we can safely and compassionately get curious about all of our needs – conflicting as they may seem – we’re actually pretty likely to find a solution that works for all of us.

The kids, teens, adults, and families I work with have tried willpower; they are incredibly strong and capable people. I love walking with them as they get to know the needs that have been pushed to the side and discover that they don’t have to be at war with themselves, after all.

I am a Licensed Certified Social Worker - Clinical in Maryland (LCSW-C, #22856) and a Board-Approved Supervisor in Maryland. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Near Eastern Studies and have a Master’s degree in International Peace Studies along with my Master’s of Social Work. I am a passionate and life-long learner who thrives in connection and challenge in all my relationships.
